Oral Arguments, with Context

Real court arguments, crisp audio, with context.

Court recordings can be difficult to follow, and many suffer from poor audio quality. This podcast enhances the audio, provides a brief introduction to each case, and explains legal concepts that may be unfamiliar to some listeners.

We hope these enhancements make oral argument recordings easier to understand, more accessible, and more enjoyable to listen to.

Blue Lake Rancheria v. Kalshi, Inc. — 9th Cir. (argued July 10, 2026)

No. 25-7504 Argued July 10, 2026 Published July 27, 2026; updated August 19, 2026

The Ninth Circuit considers whether three California tribes may stop Kalshi from offering sports-event contracts to users on tribal lands while their lawsuit against Kalshi and Robinhood proceeds. The tribes say the contracts are unauthorized Class Three gaming, a federal category that includes sports betting. The companies say they are federally regulated derivatives and do not violate the tribal gaming agreements or procedures at issue. The district court denied a preliminary injunction, an order that would halt the contracts during the case, and the tribes appealed.
