Catelyn H. v. Boyd Gaming Corporation, et al. — 9th Cir. (Sep 15, 2026)
The Ninth Circuit hears Catelyn H.'s lawsuit against Las Vegas casino operators. She says a trafficker forced her to seek paying sex customers inside casinos. She alleges that the casinos facilitated and profited from that activity. She sued Boyd Gaming, the Venetian and the Mirage under federal anti-trafficking law. A federal district court in Nevada dismissed her claims before trial, finding her allegations insufficient to establish the casinos' responsibility. She seeks to revive the lawsuit. The appeal concerns what the complaint must allege about the casinos' conduct and knowledge of coercion, not whether a jury has found those allegations true.
