The Seventh Circuit reviews summary judgment in a dispute over an apartment debt. Erin Livesay says National Credit Systems kept reporting that she owed about $5,300 after a state court ruled that she owed the landlord nothing. The district court entered judgment for National Credit Systems on Livesay's claims under the Fair Credit Reporting Act and the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. The appeal asks whether Livesay produced enough evidence that the company's investigation was unreasonable, whether she abandoned a claim based on a settlement letter, and whether a federal court that found no concrete injury should have sent that claim back to state court.
