Oral Arguments, with Context

Real court arguments, crisp audio, with context.

Court recordings can be difficult to follow, and many suffer from poor audio quality. This podcast enhances the audio, provides a brief introduction to each case, and explains legal concepts that may be unfamiliar to some listeners.

We hope these enhancements make oral argument recordings easier to understand, more accessible, and more enjoyable to listen to.

Jackson Federation of Teachers v. Fitch — 5th Cir. (argued August 31, 2026)

No. 25-60496 Argued August 31, 2026 Published September 3, 2026

The Fifth Circuit reviews an order temporarily blocking parts of Mississippi House Bill 1193, which regulates race- and sex-related concepts in public education. The challengers say the provisions are vague and chill speech; Mississippi calls the tests wrong and the relief overbroad. The panel will also consider reassignment after a law clerk used AI to help draft an order mistakenly filed before review. Mississippi Deputy Solicitor General Anthony Shults will ask the court to vacate the injunction.
