USA v. Logwood — 5th Cir. (Oct 7, 2026)

No. 25-30674 Argued October 7, 2026 Published October 7, 2026

The Fifth Circuit hears United States versus Logwood. An officer stopped Logwood's car for an alleged turn-signal violation. Logwood, facing drug charges, asked a Louisiana federal court to exclude evidence from the vehicle search. The court rejected that part of his request. He later submitted a forensic video analyst's report saying his turn signal had been on. He asked to reopen the hearing to consider that analysis. The judge refused, reasoning that the video had been available before the first hearing and that trial was approaching. The appeal concerns whether the court properly exercised its discretion in refusing another hearing.
