Court recordings can be difficult to follow, and many suffer from poor audio quality. This podcast enhances the audio, provides a brief introduction to each case, and explains legal concepts that may be unfamiliar to some listeners.

Poor Boy v. City of Winnfield — 5th Cir. (argued September 2, 2026)

The Fifth Circuit hears a payment dispute over cleanup after Hurricane Laura. Poor Boy Tree Service and Mobile Help 4U say Winnfield owes them for the work. The district court ruled for the city without a trial, finding no enforceable contract or open account. Colby Lane Bowman will represent the contractors. He will argue that Louisiana's emergency provisions allowed city officials to arrange the work and that the claim should go to trial.
