Juca v. Aviles-Ramos — 2d Cir. (argued September 1, 2026)

The Second Circuit hears a short motion argument in Juca v. Aviles-Ramos. Juca appealed after the district court denied a second request for emergency relief in a dispute over her child's special-education placement, finding no irreparable harm in the record. The court is considering Juca's request for an injunction during the appeal and the Department's argument that the appeal is now moot. A dispute is moot when the court can no longer grant effective relief.
