Lee v. Golaszewski — 2d Cir. (Oct 8, 2026)
The Second Circuit hears Dan Lee's appeal over a business venture he says his colleagues took away from him. Lee and two colleagues at Seventeen Capital explored starting a financing business with another investment firm, Hunter Point Capital. They prepared plans, met potential partners, and jointly hired lawyers, but never signed a partnership agreement. Hunter Point offered jobs to the other two men. Lee says they excluded him from a venture they had already agreed to build together. They say they accepted individual jobs and never formed a partnership with him. Lee sued for breaking the alleged partnership and violating duties owed between partners. The district court ruled for the defendants without a trial, finding insufficient proof that a partnership or joint venture existed. Lee is challenging that ruling.
