Shabaka Fletcher v. Verida, Inc., et al. — 11th Cir. (argued July 31, 2026)
The Eleventh Circuit considers whether Verida could move a Georgia tort suit against it and Johnson's Medical Transport to federal court under the federal-officer removal statute. That law covers certain defendants acting under federal authority. A federal district court sent the case back to state court. This appeal concerns only the forum, not liability. The dispute is whether Verida was acting under federal authority or merely complying with federal regulation through Georgia's Medicaid system.
