United States v. Haight — 10th Cir. (Sep 15, 2026)
Federal prosecutors accused Ryan Haight of sexually abusing one teenager and, in a separate incident, touching another at a summer gathering. A jury convicted him on three counts, but the trial judge later set aside the count tied to the second teenager. Haight was sentenced on the remaining convictions. He says the two sets of allegations should have been tried separately because combining them unfairly swayed the jury. He also challenges the refusal to delay trial so the defense could examine phone messages investigators had reviewed. The Tenth Circuit is reviewing whether those rulings require further proceedings.
