No. 25-1964 Argued October 7, 2026 Published October 10, 2026

The First Circuit hears Maritza Gutierrez-Flores's challenge to the denial of immigration protection. She sought asylum and related protection, relying on the groups Salvadoran women and single Salvadoran women. The Board of Immigration Appeals rejected both groups. Her lawyers contend that being single is a characteristic she should not be required to change. She will ask this court to set aside the Board's decision and send her claim back for reconsideration.
